Baby, you've come a long way!

A big thanks for this post goes to Jess from "Jess and Ryan Build a House" who posted the other day about Near Map, an absolutely wonderful mapping tool with satellite images more regularly updated than Google Maps.

Here is a pictorial history from above of our house build.

The old house after we bought it. 6 April 2011

After demolition 20 August 2011

With slab and frame half up 18 October 2011

With the roof done and bricks half complete 17 Nov 2011

Outdoor room and rumpus roof complete 17 January 2012

The latest photo with garage roof on. 12 March 2012.

What a great program!

Not much to report on the house front. Tiler to fix bath tomorrow, then some more stuff next week before inspections begin (in theory).

Enjoy the long weekend :)

  1. How good is Near map! I use it regularly at work...doing work things of course... I wish it had video feed so I could see when there are tradies onsite lol. Is the square thing on your roof a chimney? Sorry it sounds like a stupid question but I don't see them up here, and I tend not to be looking too much at rooftops when we visit Melbourne.

  2. Wow! that's a cool site! We're going to have a look at that now and capture some aerial photos of our site. Expect to have our blog updated with those type of photos, as well. Thanks Kirst.

@Mel, I believe that square thing is a solar panel for the gas hot water service. We have that on our roof, too (if you're refering to the darkish square/rectangular shaped object on the bottom left hand side of the roof).

    Cheers.

    1. Look forward to seeing your post :) At least it will give you a moment to focus on how far you have come rather than how little there is to go. And thanks for answering Mel's query, you beat me to it.
