Get a handle on things!

There has been a flurry of activity this week at our place. All of the floorboards have been ripped up and you can see the offending water patch in the photos below. Luckily there does not appear to be any damage to the kitchen cabinetry or anywhere else.

Unfortunately as i drove past the other day i noticed that we finally have the front door handle and lock. The lock is great but the handle is the wrong one and the attachment points on the new one are further apart than this one so the door will have to be patched or replaced entirely. 


Cant believe our luck. I mean, how hard is it to order the correct door handle and then even check before putting it on. This 'wrong' handle has been on order for a few weeks too.

On a positive note, the ensuite bath hob has finally been fixed and the bath now fits. You may also remember that the bath tap did not reach the bath previously. This has now been rectified. Hooray. 

Lovely big bath... cant wait to get in and have a soak in it!

The house is literally covered in dots put there by our SS and CM. Mostly they are painting flaws to fix up. Apart from the bamboo floors, render on the outside, the soft close toilets and a few other bits and pieces there's not much else to do.

Here's hoping for some quick work...and no more problems!

NELSON NO MORE!

It has come to our attention that in Victoria you can no longer build the Nelson design. The displays have closed down and it isn't listed as an option on the App or main website. After a bit of detective work I found out that you can still build it in QLD and NSW. 

Its such a shame, as in our opinion it was the perfect design to fit on a narrowish inner city Melbourne block. 4 Bedrooms, Study, Sitting, Lounge, Leisure and Rumpus all on a 15m wide block!

Here is a refresher of the floor plan for our Nelson 43 (which by the time we added a few things is more like a Nelson 46 square!)

More studio M and colour selections.

The last few weeks have flown by and we have been snowed under trying to get things organised to demolish the old house and get the final Studio M alterations made along with preparing for final contract signing.

First things first. We are still in the process of making corrections on our Studio M selections, especially to the kitchen and wet areas. I just want to make sure that the cabinets are correct and given that we had no internal elevations available at selections we have found it hard to find the right descriptions on the colour schedule. This is slowly being resolved. The last few things that need addressing are the addition of popup chrome plugs (I got that idea at the last minute from Rachel and Sandy… thanks!) and also getting the codes right for all our upgraded tapware.

The other major colour change we are considering is to make our lovely 2340 x 1020 front door another colour to make it pop a bit more. We are thinking of making it bright red but it is hard to see how this would look as the ‘Envisage’ program wont let you choose a bright red colour. This is what the front of the house looks like (well it is the closest façade that I could get to ours) and then the picture below if a mock up I did on paint with a red door. Still not decided!???
