The flood water recedes...

We received word this week that the source of the flooding has been located and fixed. The water came from the laundry area adjacent to the hall/living room and not from cleaners after all. Good news is that the laundry problem has been fixed and when the slab is dry enough, the new boards will go down. This is likely to occur this coming week and shouldn't cause any further delays. This has however added a few extra items to our inspection list... to check all the cabinetry in the laundry for water damage.

The door handle is being replaced and is likely to require a new door, which is readily available so we are told.

The painters should have been there today and will finish up Monday. Roof plumbers will be back to finish off gutters etc next week and the brickies next week to fix up a few defects. Renderers should come the following week and wait for it…

QA within 2 weeks....!!!!

I’m on school holidays now so its going to be a flurry of furniture, curtains, landscaping and packing. Bring it on J

  1. Ah ha! My thoughts on a possible leak are confirmed! Hope M apologized to you both for initially dismissing your concerns and for even accusing you of some possible wrong doing! Glad it is being sorted though. You must be so relieved!

    1. Thanks Jo. Of course there was no apology. Cam had to pry it out of the SS to find out what actually happened. Hope there is no further damage.

  2. It was one big lot of water damage, I thought suuurely a cleaner couldn't have made that much of a mess! At least it has been found now and not after you had furniture in that could have been damaged. Oooh how exciting about curtains, please post pics when you have decided, I am in desperate need of inspiration!! Hopefully not too much longer to go guys!

    1. ah curtains... very tricky to choose. I think I am going to go on Pinterest to get some inspiration. Im not looking at anything too OTT. Charcoal roller blinds everywhere except the bedrooms and the sitting room. the kids rooms will have funky romans in bright stripes to match their decor and our room and the sitting room will have blockout curtains and sheers curtains over the top with ripple top on them. I'll post when ive decided.

  3. Now they can point their fingers at the dodgy plumber and he will have to pay for the damages. It will surely make them think twice about doing a shonky job. If they claim it on insurance, then it doesn't teach the contractor anything.

    1. That is a positive to come out of it. I have to say if it is the same plumber we have had the whole time, this isnt the first time he's completed shonky work...
